Santa Clause: Real or Not?
Christmas has always been one of the most awaited season of the year. The will to share that brings warmth in our hearts will always be remembered until the next years. Christmas is indeed more than just Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, Gift (material) giving, but it's more about the experience, and the ultimate happiness that will always stay with you for a lifetime.
My friends have always teased me back in highschool for being defensive of Santa Clause's existence. I argued and will always do until my last breath (haha rowts grabe na) that Santa Clause is real.
If you're asking me why, the answer is simple. HE IS MY CHILDHOOD LOVE!
I can't relate to facebook posts showing kids playing bato-lata and the likes, with the caption "Naaalala niyo pa ba to mga batang 90s?". I don't have much childhood friends from the neighborhood. All of it simply because I stay at home and play with dolls whose names are my favorite. However, there is someone who kept me excited for the last month of the year throughout that year.
Since we were kids, it has been a family tradition to put Santa's socks outside the door. My siblings and I usually wake up in a very unusual time(haha!). Early in the morning, we'd race our way towards our door and check our socks. Inside it are chocolates, toys, candies. That happens everyday since December 1. And on the 25th, there will be a huge gift for the 3 of us. There was actually one time, Santa gave me a letter. Telling me how much he is proud of me of my achievements at school, and reminding me to keep it up and always be good to my parents. Believe me or not, that letter is still with me until now(luckily, Sendong didn't took it away from me)
Until one night, mom told me about the real story over dinner. I admit I was taken aback. I was frustrated, and disappointed. But at some point, I realized I owe my belief a lot.
I can say I was denial, so I researched a lot about Santa Clause. I learned more and more about Saint Nicholas, a Greek Bishop, who is know for its generosity, how Santa Clause got its name, and the history of the image. These results were my weapon in defending Santa Clause's existence. No matter how much discouragements and awful things they say about him, my belief still stands firm.
People might say, I had a boring and a sad life just for a reason I was not that exposed outside, which did not allow me to experience what most of the kids have. But you know what? I did not regret anything, nor have I thought "if only". I'm beyond satisfied and contented with my childhood experience. Despite of it all, I grew up to become a happy, genuine, cheerful, and a woman full of love. Thanks to Disney, Barbie, and most especially Santa Clause for fulfilling my childhood experience. I will be forever grateful for this. I may grow older, but the kid in me will always be with me, and won't change at all. Young at heart as they say.
So to answer the question "Santa Clause:Real or Not?", ask yourself if you believe in magic ;)
Wish you all a Merry Christmas! Spread Love and continue to grow in Jesus' Love! :*
